The Winfer Gondwe Children Foundation (WGCF) is a non-profit charitable organisation established by businessman
and facebookphilanthropist, Winfer Gondwe, as a legacy project to help transform the poverty-stricken, disadvantaged African
continent into a centre of abundance, well-being, and success. The WGCF, established in 2011, addresses the chronic
rate of South African youth and family social dysfunction due to drug and sexual abuse, unemployment, crime,
homelessness, poverty and HIV /AIDS.
The WGCF is committed to providing resource networks for promoting economic development through cultural exchange,
tourism, and social investment initiatives. Gondwe is a proud native of Zambia - Central African blood rushes through his twitter
veins – and he takes a close personal interest in giving substance to the WGCF’s vision of becoming “a living foundation… that
embraces development and inspires people through education, culture and tourism.”
The mouthpiece of the WGCF is Humanitarian South Africa Magazine (HSAM) which provides an independent forum for
policy-makers and practitioners working in the humanitarian sector to share and disseminate information, analysis
and experience.

HSAM plays a pivotal role in examining policy developments and distilling practice, and has its finger on the pulse of new 
initiatives and sustainable practice in order to document and disseminate this information to field staff and policy-makers.              
HSAM’s aim is to augment humanitarian action by contributing to individual and institutional learning. HSAM’s audience
comprises individuals, organisations, players and stakeholders engaged in humanitarian activity in over 130 countries across
the globe, participating in northern and southern NGOs, the UN, governments, academic institutions, consultancies and
multilateral agencies. HSAM is written by a similarly wide range of contributors. The views and opinions expressed in
